Executive Director Gets COVID Vaccine

ADW receiving Covid-19 Vaccine

I recently received the Pfizer vaccine. It took me a while to make this decision. I went through some of the same thought processes that others like me go through and that some undecided individuals like me are still contemplating today.

Some studies have shown that the COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately affects Black people and other minorities in the United States in severity, mortality, economics, and more.

However, I did not agree because in my little network of friends that includes, medical doctors, pharmaceutical professionals, and other healthcare professionals in other cities, they consistently advised me that those numbers do not necessarily reflect what they are seeing at ground level at their hospitals.

Additionally, since this pandemic has been so politicized, dramatized, and wildly hypothesized in the mainstream & social media, here's how I made my decision to get vaccinated:

  1. I visited the CDC's website and compared the ingredients of each vaccine with my allergies.
  2. Based on that, I decided which vaccine that I was not going to get, and then...
  3. I prayed about it and let it go!!!

With my faith in "The Most-High", I was able to give those burdens to him, press on, and continue to live my life while letting the confusion and drama go.

I hope that this will be helpful to someone that is still deciding on the vaccine.

Antonio D. Williams, Sr., is president and CEO of the Housing Authority of the City of Texarkana, Texas (HATT).
