The Housing Authority's Homeownership Program enables an applicant to buy and build a new home in the RoseHill neighborhood. The Homeownership Program is a second-mortgage program, where eligible applicants obtain a first mortgage to purchase a home based on their family income. Funds from the grant provide a second mortgage for the difference between the first mortgage and the construction price. The second mortgage is not required to be repaid until the sale of the home prior to a 10-year residency.
HATT launched its Homeownership Program in July 2008. The goal of the Homeownership program is to increase homeownership opportunities for low-income and moderate-income residents who wish to move to Bowie County through the use of federal, state, or local funding.
Currently, the Homeownership Program is closed and the HATT is not accepting any applications for this program.
