This season, TAAC will join the nationwide free little library project. The Texarkana Gazette donated five old newspaper stands for the new project. The refurbished units will hold books for students K-4 grade.

TAAC's Free Little Library Houses are currently at the following locations: The Iron Mountain Center, Sand Flat Center; Southwest Center; Pecan Ridge Apartments; and the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club at LEISD.

Recently on Thursday, November 14, 2019, staff (Michelle Flores-Thurston, Nikki Hamilton, and Marsha Geraci) and students from Theron Jones Early Literacy Center where Melody White is the principal, brought books for the little library house at Pecan Ridge Apartments. Assisting them were the book stewards for Pecan Ridge Apartments: Rhonda Dolberry, Vicki Parks, and Dr. Teretha Harper.

Book stewards for the other libraries in Texarkana are as follows:

Treva West, Boys and Girls Club, Texas side

Lillie Young, Southwest Center

Vicki Parks, Sand Flat Center

Marvin Williams, Iron Mountain Center

Thank you all for your continued support.  In the near future, these libraries will be restocked...just in time for reading during the holiday season.
